Maintenance and gardening firm Greenscape has been awarded a £180,000 cleaning contract for nearly 400 homes across Birmingham.
The homes, made up of flats and houses, are all managed by Birmingham-based housing association Midland Heart, which manages more than 32,000 homes.
Greenscape, which has bases in Wednesbury and Coventry, beat 12 other businesses to win the three-year contract.
Work will include the cleaning of communal areas and the annual cleaning of carpets and flooring, as well as other maintenance tasks throughout the term of the contract.
To allow cleaners to have hot water throughout the day to carry out the best possible cleaning service, Greenscape has equipped its vans with a unique water storage tank that provides large quantities of water heated by the engine.
Phil Greaves, Business Development Manager at Greenscape, said: “The procurement process was very competitive and we met a number of Midland Heart residents who vigorously checked the quality and professionalism of our services.
“We are delighted to have won this contract as cleaning services make up a significant part of our business and we know that with 30 years of experience we can deliver an excellent service at an excellent cost.”
Neil Whittenbury, Head of Neighbourhoods for Midland Heart, said: “We’re excited to be delivering a brand new environmental services contract to our customers.
“Customer involvement was a key part of our procurement process, when asked, our customers told us they wanted local contractors providing local services.
“We listened to our customers and newly appointed contractors are now made up of local businesses, small social enterprises, family-run businesses and larger national organisations. We’re proud to be giving back to the local economy.”
Residents of Midland Heart were involved in every step of the procurement process, from interviewing potential businesses to inspecting their current work.
Greenscape provides a range of services to not-for-profit organisations and private firms across the West Midlands. Their services range from window cleaning, gardening and landscaping to repairs and maintenance and it employs 50 members of staff.
