A total of £8.5 million has been issued for the new Green Deal Home Improvement Fund during the scheme’s first two weeks, according to industry estimates.
The figure represents a £6 million surge from the first week, during which £2.6 million was issued to households in England and Wales.
A total 2821 applications have been made for the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund which offers households money back for making energy efficient home improvements from an approved list.
Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey said: “We’ve changed the Green Deal to make it simpler and faster for people to make their homes more energy efficient – you could get up to £7600 back, straight into your bank account.
“I want as many people as possible to benefit from this unmissable offer. It won’t be around forever, so sign up now and get your home ready for the winter.”

The scheme also entitles those who have bought a property in the 12 months prior to application to qualify for up to an additional £500 if they carry out energy efficiency improvements.
