In response to market demand the latest generation Wessex ModuMax condensing boilers from Hamworthy Heating are now able to operate at 30°C differential temperatures. This makes them particularly suited to district heating schemes and for projects with dual heating sources – where condensing boilers are used to support the renewable energy source.
Keith Thompson, Sales & Marketing Director, explains “We are seeing more heating systems designed with a wider differential temperature. This enables condensing boilers to operate with a lower return temperature providing greater opportunities for them to actually condense, resulting in lower fuel consumption.”
He went on to say, “We identified a need in the market for boilers that can operate at these wider temperature differentials particularly for our customers who are designing district heating schemes.”
CIBSE guidance AM12 – Combined heat and power for buildings, makes specific reference to designing district heating schemes with a minimum of 30°C differential temperature. This keeps flow rates and pipe sizes small, and maintains a low return temperature, even at low load conditions, for more efficient plant operation.
Keith concluded, “The extremely small footprint of the Wessex ModuMax mk2 boilers permits them to be used in plant rooms where there is limited space. This is often the case in city centre developments or when renewable energy products such as CHP or biomass boilers are installed alongside.”
The condensing boilers provide seasonal efficiencies up to 95.32% and are fully compliant with the Energy Related Products Directive (ErP) and Building Regulations Part L - 2013.
Available in 15 models with outputs from 100kW to 750kW, the fully modulating condensing boilers are able to respond rapidly to changes in demand making them extremely versatile and suitable for a wide variety of heating projects.
