Travis Perkins has supported students from Moulton College in Northamptonshire by donating materials worth £3605 and providing free equipment hire to a build project taking place at Nanna’s Animal Sanctuary in Wellingborough.
This is the second year running that Travis Perkins has supported the ‘Make A Difference’ campaign which is run by radio station Connect FM. Listeners voted for the worthy cause they wanted to see receive support from the leading builder’s merchant and the local college which specialises in vocational education and training for the built environment and recreational industries. Work to create a new pathway and three kennels started at the animal sanctuary on 18th June 2012.
Matthew Aitken, Travis Perkins Assistant Marketing Manager, said: “Travis Perkins takes supporting its local community and encouraging new skills very seriously, so the ‘Make A Difference’ campaign is the ideal cause for us to support.
“We work hard to make sure our trade counters are approachable for young builders and that our branch managers build relationships with them as they would with more experienced tradesmen. This level of commitment is vital to encourage the progression of skills in this industry.”
Products donated by Travis Perkins included edging and shale to construct the pathway in addition to timber, fixings and guttering for the three dog kennels. All Power tools and machinery were supplied through Travis Perkin’s ‘Hire It’ service and all students were provided with PPE to ensure they were safe whilst on site.
