Hamworthy Heating has extended its Building Information Modelling (BIM) library to include BIM objects for the recently upgraded Wessex ModuMax mk2 condensing boiler range. The parametric models, which are loaded with extensive metadata and optional pipekits are available to download now from www.hamworthy-heating.com/bim.
Sam Boshier, Hamworthy’s BIM champion enthused, “We have received a lot of requests for these BIM files. We’ve continued to ensure that the 3D models we provide are produced to the highest quality, with all relevant technical data embedded and at the same time kept the file size to a minimum.”
All 15 models in the range have been encompassed in one BIM object making it easier for the designer to change outputs and configure the boilers in 2 or 3 high arrangements. The compact, vertically stacking design of the Wessex ModuMax mk2 boilers makes them a great solution for plant rooms with limited space and projects where condensing boilers are used with renewable energy sources.
Sam went on to say, “There is a lot of talk in the industry at the moment about the Government mandate that all centrally procured projects will need to achieve Level 2 BIM by 2016. Technically a manufacturer only needs to provide structured digital information and documentation for their products that can be imported into BIM. However in reality our customers can gain real benefits by using these 3D models for their specifications and tenders to help streamline the way they work. This is why we have chosen to provide 3D BIM objects that will satisfy both the 3D model and digital data requirement.”
Hamworthy Heating is also a member of the Industrial and Commercial Energy Association (ICOM) BIM working group. The group is working with CIBSE to create product data templates (PDTs) for the commercial heating industry in order to assist with the compiling of construction operations building information exchange (COBie) spreadsheets.
The latest generation Wessex ModuMax mk2 condensing boilers from Hamworthy Heating have improved efficiencies and are able to operate at 30°C differential temperatures; this makes them a great choice for district heating schemes and for peak load duty assistance for renewable energy products such as biomass and CHP.
