Bourne-based builder FE Peacock Construction Ltd (www.fepeacock.co.u) is planning to develop new sustainable business in 2011 following its accreditation as an MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) installer of photovoltaic (PV) panels.
Photovoltaic panels produce electricity from daylight, generating useable power even on cloudy days.
FE Peacock is part of the Larkfleet Group (www.larkfleetgroup.co.uk). Together with Larkfleet Group company Lark Energy and specialised builders merchant, Eco Building Products Ltd, FE Peacock is now able to supply and install top quality PV components as well as provide a full consultancy and design service.
As a result of gaining the MCS accreditation, FE Peacock's PV installations are now eligible for the government's Feed in Tariff (FIT) scheme which allows power generated by PV panels to be sold to the national grid at guaranteed prices. Only PV installations by MCS accredited firms are eligible for FIT.
FE Peacock is experienced in providing renewable energy solutions for residential dwellings and for agricultural and public sector buildings. It can install PV panels on new buildings and also retrofit them to existing buildings.
FIT-supported PV installations can help lower the carbon emissions of building stock, reduce energy costs and provide long term, guaranteed return on investment.
FE Peacock managing director Karl Hick commented: I am delighted that we have been awarded this accreditation. Our team of installation experts can now provide PV installations to suit every need and budget. This accreditation will allow us to expand the energy saving solutions we can offer to clients.
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards. It is designed to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria, providing greater protection for consumers.
Working with Lark Energy, FE Peacock offers a wide range of energy-saving retrofit solutions including photovoltaic panels, insulation of roofs, floors and external walls and the installation of mechanical ventilation and heat recovery.
