A multi-million pound investment in The Dormy, near Broadway, will transform the popular country house hotel into a new era of luxury.
The four-star hotel, which has been open for 35 years and was promoted from a three stars in 2009, will close on 19 November for the work to begin.
All the public spaces and most of the bedrooms will be refurbished and upgraded and around £5m will be spent in total to boost customer comfort. It is due to reopen in Spring 2013.
The 43-bedroom hotel has its origins as a converted 17th Century farmhouse and was last year voted the second-most romantic hotel in the country by TripAdvisor. The Dormy’s relaxed, comfortable and elegant style will be retained following the redevelopment.
General Manager David Field, who has been at the hotel for 30 years this month, said: “We are delighted to announce these major refurbishment plans for The Dormy.
“We have been open since 1977 and, although the hotel has received significant investment before, this is the first time we will close for work to be done.
“What is particularly exciting for me, after 30 years at The Dormy, is that the high quality of our offer will be boosted further yet we will still retain the traditional welcome and impeccable service that has always been our hallmark.”
From mid-November, you can follow the progress of the development and detailed plans for the hotel via the website: www.dormyhouse.co.uk. You can also sign up for the latest news and re-opening dates via The Dormy newsletter and by clicking ‘like’ on the hotel’s Facebook page.
