A family-run cubicle specialist firm has virtualised its full product range after forming a partnership with bimstore.co.uk, a free online library of quality digital content for construction specifiers.
In just four weeks an entire product range has been made ‘BIM ready’ on the Cubicle Centre’s newly designed website, presenting a complete library of Building Information Modelling (BIM) components, which are now all available for download.
Providing a cloud portal through which designers can search, find and download digital components for specifiers, Cubicle Centre is an early adopter in the use of BIM for the distribution of their new products.
They are responding to the requirement that it will be mandatory for all government projects to use BIM by 2016.
The Cubicle Centre’s BIM components are data-rich and highlight unique features such as FSC (Forrest Stewardship Council) certification. Each component contains parametric features that help design teams work easily within the limits of the system.
The result is a quicker specification process, combined with correct and quantified product details throughout the whole project cycle.
Content online and currently ready for use in real project environments from the Cubicle Centre includes toilet cubicles, wall panel systems and vanity units.
Craig Sewell, Cubicle Centre UK marketing manager said: “We made the decision to invest in BIM so that we can deliver the best information to anyone wishing to use our products. Our entire product range is now online and hosted on bimstore.co.uk, so that we have the highest quality components distributed via bimstore’s unique eco-system distribution network.
"We recognise the importance of BIM to the UK construction industry and also that our clients need high quality information from us, so that they in turn can deliver the best solution for their clients.
“The Cubicle Centre team are not BIM experts, so that’s why we brought bimstore.co.uk on board, to create, distribute and track our content for us. The bimstore team moved quickly getting everything up and running within four weeks and we are thrilled with the end result.”
Adam Ward, director of bimstore.co.uk said: “Advances in Building Information Modelling have significantly enhanced the way in which Cubicle Centre products can be used to meet the demands of architects.
"The products can now be specified by placing intelligent components that behave like the real product, giving feedback to the specifier during the specification process.
“It’s an exciting time for Building Information Modelling as companies such as Cubicle Centre start to see the tangible cost savings and the tremendous value the new approach holds in the planning, design and analysis aspects of construction projects.”
