Staff at Forticrete, the UK’s leading manufacturer of stone masonry products, have raised a phenomenal £9,630 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street Hospital after they took part in the grueling Virgin Active London Triathlon. As part of the ‘Roofing Racers’ contingent, which comprised teams from various companies from within the roofing industry, 12 Forticrete staff completed the daunting ‘Sprint’ triathlon – which included a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run around London’s Docklands. Supported and sponsored by colleagues, family, friends and suppliers, the brave competitors completed the three part challenge either individually or as a team of three. Jo Lightfoot, marketing manager at Forticrete commented: “Considering that only one of the team had completed a triathlon before, we are over the moon with the effort put in from each and every member of the team and are hugely grateful to everyone who sponsored us. “To raise such a tremendous amount of money is an absolutely fantastic achievement, especially with it going to such a worthwhile cause.”
