Forbo Flooring Systems’ new Flotex range is set to challenge its often traditional perception with its striking Neon colour palette.

From education to office, retail to leisure the uniquely constructed floorcovering provides the warmth and comfort of a textile but with the performance of a resilient floorcovering.
Creating a new dimension of design possibilities, Flotex Metro Neon sees eight vivid and vibrant colours – including Zest, Shock, Electric and Lava - cleverly designed to work on their own for maximum impact, or with the Metro range to create highlight areas. The Neon shades work well as accent colours to create focal points within the design and really bring the flooring to life – they can be used to create breakout areas and workspaces, as well as interesting ‘walkways’ through open spaces.
Metro Neon has been designed to break with convention and stimulate creative thinking. Sitting alongside this is the enhanced Metro collection, which now includes six new shades: Jade, Red, Burgundy, Tangerine, Cinnamon and Truffle.
All available in sheet and tiles, the key to Metro is the outstanding design versatility. Different aesthetic effects can be achieved depending on whether the tiles are installed in a broadloom or tessellated configuration. Combining the two options will certainly add depth and texture to any open space.
Jason Holmes, Head of Design at Forbo Flooring comments on the enhanced collection: “Adding new Metro colours just made sense, as the design has been globally well received. However the introduction of Metro Neon was something different. We wanted to try something daring and provocative that would introduce a graphic element to the collection. Its development was heavily influenced by pop art and the Memphis group, with the aim of providing a design to be used with Metro that stimulated the unconventional in flooring design. My hope is that it will inspire people to think about new possibilities for the product and reinforce the proposition that Flotex is a choice, not a compromise.”
Other highlights include the hugely popular Calgary colour palette, which has been increased from 24 to 30 options. A more subtle and calming range of colourways, Calgary is ideal for healthcare environments and enables designers to play with new shades such as Riveria and Spa, Salmon and Ginger as well as Linen and Amber - ensuring a fully balanced mix of neutral and bright selections. Additionally, Calgary forms even more partnerships with existing resilient products across the Forbo portfolio, such as Marmoleum, so specifiers can match designs that work in conjunction with each other across a complete floor area or building.
Flotex is the only textile floorcovering to have been awarded the Allergy UK Seal of Approval, as twice as many allergens can be removed on vacuuming, contributing to a healthier indoor environment. It is also 100% waterproof and rot proof allowing for cleaning right down to the base of the flock, and offers up to 20dB sound impact reduction, making it perfect for education environments where keeping noise to a minimum is a high priority.
The unique construction: 70 million nylon 6.6 fibres per square metre, provides Flotex with the toughness and durability of a resilient floorcovering, but with the quietness and comfort of a textile finish. Steam and mechanical cleaning enables the floor covering to be restored quickly, even after heavy soiling - ideal for retail outlets.
Furthermore, Flotex is fully compliant with HSE wet and dry low slip risk classifications and the integral antimicrobial sanitized treatment offers constant protection against mould and odours, making Flotex wholly suitable for aged care premises.
