FM Conway’s long-term partnership with Merton Council will continue for at least the next five years after the company re-secured the Borough’s Highways Works and Services Contract 2012.
The new contract is due to commence on 1st September 2012 and will run until 2017, with an option for a two year extension. Under the terms of the contract, FM Conway will continue to provide the council with a range of services including highway maintenance and surfacing, lining, civil engineering, traffic management and cleansing services.
Gus Smith, Contracts Manager at FM Conway, said: “Merton means everything to FM Conway. It’s our flagship. At any one time, we’ve got 60 people working in the Borough. We’ve grown up together and we’ve developed together and we look forward to a successful future where we can explore exciting innovations together.”
FM Conway and Merton Council have worked in partnership for more than 30 years. This successful working relationship was demonstrated at the London Transport Awards (LTAs) in March 2012. The team was awarded the “Most Effective Road Safety, Traffic Management and Enforcement Award” for its “South Wimbledon Business Area Streets for People” project. The LTAs recognise excellence and innovation in transport initiatives within the capital.
Andrew Edser, Network Maintenance Manager at Merton Council, said: “FM Conway has been one of Merton’s key partners for many years and we are excited about the award of the new contract. In partnership with FM Conway, we will continue to supply high quality services to the residents, businesses and visitors to Merton while continuing to adopt an innovative approach to providing high quality amenities using the most recent technologies, materials and working methods.
“It is Merton’s aim to become a centre of best practice in the delivery of Highway Maintenance and Improvement works and we are happy to have FM Conway at our side in our pursuit of excellence.”
