As part of its ongoing commitment to making life easier, Bristan has launched a new shower designed to aid commercial users in the complex task of ensuring optimum water temperature and infection control.
Ideally suited for the healthcare sector, the innovative Opac bar shower features inbuilt TMV 3 control and an automatic thermostatic shutoff in the event of hot or cold water supply failure, meaning hot water safety is assured.
As the overriding feature, however, Opac features a simple isolation and hot flush mechanism whereby maintenance personnel need only turn the two valves on the rear of the shower body to access inside; thus eliminating the need for additional flushing equipment. This will come as a huge benefit to public sector environments obligated to conduct regular hot water flushes to ensure that the supply and flow points remain uncontaminated.
To put the time saving into context, a typical hot water flush can take anywhere up to an hour with a traditional shower set up, whereas with the Opac the process can be completed in just 10 minutes, thus meaning huge scope for time and labour cost savings.
In addition, the shower features separate controls for timer and flow with lever handles, thus making it incredibly easy to operate; a key consideration for children. Plus, the Opac bar shower is also fully cool touch, so it never gets hotter than the mixed water temperature, increasing safety.
Chris Tranter, product manager at Bristan comments: “When it comes to the specification of showers in the public sector, it is not as simple as an ‘install and go’. In order to ensure infection control is maintained, public outlets must regularly check the water temperature at sentinel outlets and conduct hot water flushes to prevent any build-up of bacteria.
“However, for the typical UK hospital or school already crippled with staff shortages and budget cuts, this additional maintenance, in terms of labour and cost, has posed an issue; particularly as with traditional systems it can take up to an hour.
“With this in mind, we have specifically developed Opac to alleviate this inherent issue. Not only is it extremely easy to install and comes complete with TMV3, but the ease of access means a complete flush can be completed in a matter of minutes. The result is reduced maintenance costs, peace of mind and, above all, assured safety for all.”
