Climate control and separation specialist Biddle has launched a sectional version of its Forceflow fan convector.
The new product makes the replacement of ‘back access’ fan convectors simple and straightforward, as its configuration can be altered to match the existing builder’s work footprint.
Fan convectors have become a popular choice for heating school classrooms – favoured for their ability to warm up rooms very quickly, and for the fact they only require minimal wall space.
As a result of these benefits, they are usually replaced like-for-like, but it is sometimes difficult for school estates managers to source a fan convector that is the same as the unit being replaced, which could be 20 or 30 years old.
Biddle recently launched an innovative sectional version of its Forceflow fan convector to ensure simple replacement. Designed to easily replace any manufacturer’s ‘back access’ fan convector unit, the flexible design ensures compatibility no matter what the size or configuration of the previous product. There are nine combinations in total, providing five heights ranging from 1,800mm to 2,400mm and five widths ranging from 750mm to 1,750mm.
The design of the product minimises building work, installation time and costs, and as the three sections are provided separately, handling is easy. It is simple to fit the sections together and secure them to a wall on site.
Biddle’s marketing manager Andrew Saxon said: “Fan convectors are really popular for heating school classrooms – not only do they take a room from cold to warm in around 15 minutes but they’re also two or three times smaller than radiators, hence saving valuable wall space.
"Therefore when a unit comes to the end of its working life the estate manager is usually looking for another fan convector, but as the location and size of the discharge and return air differs between competitor products, this can be problematic. If the configurations don’t match, costly, time-consuming building work will be required to reposition the discharge and return air holes.
“Our sectional Forceflow has been designed to offer complete flexibility – ensuring that it can be installed no matter which fan convector product is being replaced, without any additional building work being required. The sections are simply configured to match what was originally there.”
Forceflow is available in a range of heat outputs – between 3.8kW and 17.9kW for 82/71oC LPHW applications and between 3.1kW and 15.4kW for 60/40oC LPHW applications.
