Jewson and E.ON proved a winning combination for one lucky homeowner, who won £500 of high street vouchers after topping up the loft insulation in his first floor apartment.
The Saint-Gobain Isover DIY loft insulation, purchased by homeowner Phil Rothwell from his local Jewson branch, was subsidised by energy supplier E.ON under the Government’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) scheme*.
As part of the scheme, E.ON has teamed up with Jewson to offer homeowners three free rolls with every roll of Saint-Gobain Isover insulation purchased, up to a maximum of 100m².
Manufactured from 86 per cent recycled glass, the DIY loft insulation rolls are pre-perforated to fit easily between any joist spacing and the mineral wool’s robust and flexible properties make it easy to handle, cut and install.
Phil, an E.ON customer, made the decision to top up his loft insulation after being told that his current insulation fell far short of the recommended 270mm depth which could result in lost energy from his flat.
He comments: “A local builder recommended the Saint-Gobain Isover insulation as it is extremely energy efficient and easy to install. I noticed a difference in the comfort of my home almost immediately after the insulation had been installed. I now need the heating on much less frequently than before and already my energy bills are lower.
“As well as saving money on my energy bills there was the added bonus of finding out that I’d won the £500 vouchers – all because I made the decision to top up my loft insulation.”
A spokesperson from Jewson, comments: “It is estimated that up to 25 per cent of the heat lost in an insufficiently insulated house escapes through the roof. By installing the recommended depth of mineral wool insulation, the average household** can save up to £175 a year on heating bills, reducing COâ‚‚ emissions while also improving the property’s Energy Performance Rating.
“Our partnership with E.ON has been invaluable in highlighting the importance of energy efficiency to homeowners. As well as making their homes warmer and more comfortable it is also helping them to save on fuel bills while reducing their COâ‚‚ emissions.”
