Work is nearly complete on new student accommodation at Bedford University which saw Ambivent, in partnership with Drain Center, supply all hot and cold water and drainage, along with Ambivent’s in house ventilation design and build service.
The project, Keir Marriot’s £970,000 Manor Court, boasts 270 state of the art study bedrooms of four blocks, set around a courtyard arrangement. Accommodation is arranged into bedroom clusters comprising of en-suite bedrooms with common kitchen and living room.
Ambivent began work onsite in October 2011, working alongside several different contracting teams meaning that co-ordinated deliveries were necessary to ensure that the right materials were delivered to the right contractor on site. Work continued year round, including during term times, meaning that onsite health and safety was of paramount importance, to ensure students were able to go about their business as normal.
Mike Bartlett, Buyer at Ambivent said: “We won this contract for several reasons. Firstly, we offered the best value for money but secondly we had the expertise to back up our offering and promised a safe, on time, on budget build.
“We also have our own team of in house ventilation engineers, meaning we don’t sub out the work and design it all in house, along with the full mechanical package.”
Ambivent appointed Drain Center as its sole supply partner to provide all the Terrain above ground drainage, Timesaver cast iron and Domus rectangular duct needed for the job.
“We were looking for the supplier we chose to actually go into partnership with us, that was really important,” said Mike.
“Drain Center was able to offer us that partnership, as well as the customer service and good value you would expect to receive.”
Shahir Patel, Key Account Manager for Drain Center said: “Our customers are at the heart of our business, so when we heard that Ambivent were looking for a partner, we were really excited by the opportunity.
“Together we’ve helped to deliver stunning student halls accommodation on time and on budget.”
