STYROFOAM and XENERGY BIM objects launched

Dow Building Solutions has made its core range of STYROFOAM-A and XENERGY thermal insulation products available as Building Information Modelling (BIM) objects through the National Building Specification (NBS) National BIM library.

The new BIM objects – which include ROOFMATE, FLOORMATE, PERIMATE and XENERGY extruded polystyrene (XPS) products – are also available via the company’s website.

Building Information Modelling – creation of a rich digital model of a physical building – helps a design team to design the building, a construction team to model its construction and a building owner to manage the facility, throughout its life.

The National BIM Library (www.nationalbimlibrary.com) is the construction industry’s free-to-use resource of NBS standard BIM content. Dow Building Solutions’ objects are available in industry-neutral Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) format and formats compatible with Autodesk Revit, ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, Tekla and Bentley.

Dow Building Solutions offers insulation that helps enable construction of energy efficient buildings.  STYROFOAM-A and XENERGY foams have uniform closed cell structures and smooth surface ‘skins’, together with high compressive strength and low water absorption, resulting in long term insulation performance.

BIM objects are available for FLOORMATE-A (for below-slab insulation); ROOFMATE SL-A (for inverted roof insulation); ROOFMATE LG-A (for parapet insulation) and PERIMATE DI-A (for insulation of basement walls).

BIM objects have also been provided for XENERGY SL, Dow Building Solutions’ latest generation XPS for insulation of inverted flat roofs.

XENERGY offers the benefits of STYROFOAM XPS - durability, reliability and strength – but with even better insulation performance, due to infra-red blocking particles which scatter and reflect heat radiation within the foam.
