Leading manufacturer DAD is the first letterbox company in the UK to achieve Secured by Design accreditation, demonstrating that its product meet the high standards set by this police initiative which aims to “design out” crime.
The Secured by Design accreditation supports the launch of the DAD009, the first mailbox to comply with TS009:2012 GRADE 2, the new Technical Specification for free standing and wall mounted mailboxes.
The new TS009 standard was initiated by Secured By Design and the Association of Chief Police Officers in response to the increasing problem of “fishing” from mailboxes which allows criminal to steal the owners’ identities. The new DAD009 is an exceptionally robust mailbox and is proven in tough independent tests to be able to withstand attack and resist fishing through the slot.
The DAD009 is a sturdy mailbox manufactured from 1.5mm steel to ensure it is able to withstand physical attack with tools as described in the new TS009 standard. A patented locking and security device, including an EN1303 lock with 30,000 key variations, ensures that the lock remains invulnerable and secure. An anti-theft device behind the letter flap makes it impossible to fish the mail out through the slot – an increasing cause of identity theft. In compliance with the new TS009:2012 specification, the DAD009 easily takes an A4 envelope.
To become a member of the Secured by Design, a company must prove that its products meet the high standards set by the scheme. Only when the company has been fully audited and its products independently tested can the company use the coveted logo. The new DAD009 was tested at EXOVA WARRINGTONFIRE, an accredited test house, under its Certisecure scheme. Secured by Design status is often a prerequisite on many social housing and local authority projects.
The DAD009 mailbox passed the testing under the new specification within 24 hours of the specification being published, thanks to DAD’s extensive in-house R&D and design facilities - the company even manufactures its own locks and cylinders to ensure the highest quality and consistency.
As well as the new DHF TS009:2012 spec, the new DAD mailbox complies with British Standard BSEN13724 and all Royal Mail requirements. DAD is committed to achieving Secured by Design status.
the DAD009 can be supplied in any RAL colour with a polyester powder coating to match any interior scheme, making them ideal for corporate settings as well as apartment blocks and student accommodation. It is available as a single box or a bank of boxes and is wall mounted either on or in the wall, and can be sited inside or out. Like every DAD mailbox, the new DAD009 has a ten year guarantee against complete rust.
