COMBISAFE INTEGRATES 3D SAFETY SOFTWARE PACKAGES TO AID SAFETY AT HEIGHT

Europe’s leader in height safety, Combisafe, has significantly increased its level of engineering support with the integration of two of the world’s most advanced structural modelling systems – StruCad and Tekla – utilising the 3D environment to deliver improved safety at height solutions for even the most complex construction projects.

Combisafe can now integrate its extensive range of edge protection systems and safety at height products directly into steel fabricator’s 3D models. By simply overlaying safety systems onto the client’s models, this enables the automatic generation of all fixing and positioning details for the edge protection and safety systems, within one comprehensive software package.

Previously drawn in a 2D environment, Combisafe can use the 3D software to incorporate all of its safety systems onto the models, saving the client both time and money. This also allows the steel fabricator to accurately check for any interferences – such as clashes of cladding, cleats and other steel members – at the earliest possible stage. Eliminating clashes prior to the start of the fabrication process will assist Combisafe to minimise errors and reduce installation times on site.

As part of the new service, Combisafe will provide colour coded schematic drawings corresponding to pre-set equipment to make the erection process more efficient. This will enable the steel erector to follow simple plans to quickly identify the correct position of every component. These software packages also assist engineers and construction.

managers to communicate far more effectively with the client and deliver enhanced product support, from the preliminary design stages through to project completion.

By being involved at an early stage, Combisafe can offer a higher level of engineering support and communicate in the same ‘language’ as the steel fabricator. This ensures improved accuracy throughout the process for a more efficient installation, reduced installation times and significantly improved health and safety performance.

“We are delighted that Combisafe has integrated StruCad and Tekla into its engineering services as we use these programmes extensively,” said Alistair Harvey, Contracts Manager / Co Ordinator at Robinsons Steel Structures. “Combisafe has always shown an excellent level of service that will now be improved even further. With these new capabilities, Combisafe will be able to incorporate safety at height solutions at the earliest possible stage making the whole process more efficient, effective and accurate.”

Software packages such as StruCAD and Tekla incorporate Building Information Modelling (BIM) systems which enable the user to effectively build the structure before fabrication commences, allowing much earlier understanding of engineering issues. Combisafe will use the system’s ability to produce planning, communication and project management information throughout the construction process to deliver effective, high-quality detailing and improved communication.

For an efficient project delivery, all of the key construction data is inputted into the model to allow Combisafe to schedule and monitor its systems, from design and supply to installation. Building Information Modelling (BIM) can be used to establish a project’s complexity to determine budgets, schedules and resources, providing support to contractors, sub-contractors and project managers.

Adding both StruCad and Tekla 3D to the company’s engineering services, Combisafe has further enhanced its reputation for offering superior levels of expertise within the safety at height sector. By providing detailed proposals of how safety at height solutions can be integrated into a new project, Combisafe is helping to minimise risk to operatives whilst ensuring efficient delivery of projects with faster and more effective detailing.
