As part of its investment activities the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) has recently signed a stakeholder loan agreement with 15 other organisations to enable the Green Deal Finance Company (GDFC) to provide loans to householders to fund Green Deal energy efficiency improvements.
The loan from CIGA and the other organisations is part of a wider fund raising of up to £244m including investments from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and The Green Investment Bank to cover set-up, financing and administration of Green Deal Plans.
Gerry Miller, Chief Executive of CIGA commented: “CIGA is pleased that we could contribute to the funding package for the GDFC as this will ensure that finance will be available to help those customers wishing to take up a package of energy saving measures including cavity wall insulation under the Green Deal.”
CIGA provides the independent 25-year Guarantee for Cavity Wall Insulation fitted by registered installers in the UK and Channel Islands. It also operates and administers the Cavity Wall Insulation Self Certification scheme (CWISC) in association with the British Board of Agrément.
CIGA is managed by its own secretariat and is a non-profit distributing agency established after consultation with the Government in 1995 and provides technical guidance to the industry.
