Ofgem has confirmed that the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency 25 year Guarantee has been deemed appropriate for Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI) work undertaken within the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme following the publication of the ECO guidance for suppliers.
Gerry Miller, Chief Executive of CIGA, commented: “CIGA is extremely happy that the established 25 year guarantee scheme for CWI meets the required criteria as set out by Ofgem including assessment of the robust Quality Assurance framework that underpins the scheme.
"Our guarantee gives Green Deal Providers, local authorities, energy suppliers and private landlords complete confidence that work will be completed according to the highest standards as set out by CIGA and also gives consumers peace of mind with the security of an independent 25 year guarantee."
The ECO will operate alongside the Green Deal which places obligations on energy suppliers to deliver energy efficiency measures and carbon savings to domestic energy users with a particular focus on vulnerable consumer groups and hard-to-treat homes.
Ofgem’s ECO Guidance for Suppliers will come into effect from 1st May 2013 and requires an appropriate guarantee for the insulation of all cavity walls under the scheme.
CIGA provides the independent 25-year Guarantee for Cavity Wall Insulation fitted by registered installers in the UK and Channel Islands.
