Bruntwood, the family-owned commercial property company are investing over £2m to redevelop and rename the 21-storey Portland Tower, at 53 Portland Street, Manchester.
The substantial redevelopment works will include a new approach to the building with contemporary landscaping, an additional 25 silver birch trees, a new reception lobby, refurbished office suites, enhanced communal areas, improved glazing works and a fresh external look to the building.
In addition to the new look and feel, Bruntwood are also re-naming the building ‘Manchester One’, a name which better reflects the building’s sought-after M1 postcode and central location.
Manchester One is a great location for technology and media businesses and will in future benefit from a gigabit of connectivity, with other new innovations for the building including a ‘Business Lounge’ for customers with great views across the city and the Peak District and access to the buildings high-speed fibre capabilities.
Since Bruntwood’s acquisition of the building in 1994, the tower has proven popular with businesses due to its central location adjacent to Piccadilly Gardens, the traditional retail core of the city and the fact that it lies close to Piccadilly Station and within easy reach of the city’s other main rail connections at Oxford Road and Victoria.
The development works will provide a mix of flexible high quality refurbished office space, with great digital connectivity, from 800 to 18,000 sq ft, available on short and long-term agreements, in addition to meeting rooms for hire, serviced office space and virtual offices.
Peter Crowther, Development Director at Bruntwood comments: “We’re constantly re-evaluating how our buildings can deliver the best experience for our customers. The vibrant new reception and fresh new-look ground floor works, both internal and external, will dramatically improve how people perceive and interact with the building.”
Colin Sinclair, Director of Property Marketing added “The new name ‘Manchester One’ celebrates what draws so many businesses to the building – its M1 postcode and central Manchester location. Customers will also in future benefit from enhanced fibre connectivity and at Manchester One you’re close to Piccadilly Gardens, Chinatown, Piccadilly Station, the Northern Quarter and the Oxford Road Corridor.”
The redevelopment works at Manchester One are due to complete in December when the full plans for the Business Lounge will be revealed.
