BRE and Eden Project set to partner on projects

BRE and the Eden Project have signed an agreement that sets out opportunities for collaboration on a range of sustainability related initiatives including education and skills development programmes aimed at community groups as well as the corporate world.

After the successful relocation of the BRE National Solar Centre to the Eden Project. The BRE Trust and the Eden Project are now set to expand their relationship even further.

The BRE Trust, the largest UK Charity dedicated specifically to research and education in the built environment, and the Eden Project, the UK’s leading environmental educational charity, will work together to create a series of training programmes in the field of sustainability and community engagement.

Plans to align the operational sustainability programmes currently run by the Eden Project with the BRE Academy’s technical programmes are already taking shape, with a range of seminars and events for corporate clients and community groups and the construction industry in the pipeline. The partnership also see significant opportunities becoming available within the international market, particularly in China where both BRE and Eden are currently working up new project ideas and plans.

Director of the BRE Academy  Pauline Traetto said “Our partnership with the Eden Project will not only enable us to continue to provide targeted research and training in solar PV and renewables, but also to share knowledge and drive sustainable building innovation in the South West and across the UK.”

“Our mission has always been to connect people with the natural world by encouraging and inspiring our visitors to live more sustainably,” added Dan James, Development Director at the Eden Project. “Working with BRE will help us equip businesses and individuals with the tools and inspiration that they need in order to minimise their environmental impact.”
