Although its design is over 100 years old, the ‘always open, always closed’ principle still ensures that the revolving door is the most energy efficient entrance solution available.
Boon Edam has introduced innovative new possibilities to improve the energy saving capabilities of the revolving door even further.
The Green Retrofit Package consists of a number of measures that can be installed on both new and existing revolving doors. One of these measures are innovative weather strips combining the traditional horsehair with plastic inlays for a 30% increase in draft reduction.
Additionally a new motion detector for automatic revolving doors detects the walking direction of people in the vicinity of the door, thus ensuring the door will only turn when someone wants to enter the building. This reduces both the power consumption of the door and the dynamical energy losses, saving energy used in heating or
cooling a building.
The package also includes a new LED lighting system which has a longer lifespan and 60% lower energy consumption, when compared to halogen lights historically installed in revolving doors.
In combination with smart lighting control which allows the ceiling lights to be turned off when the door is not in use, the new Green Retrofit Package can save energy whilst reducing costs.
