Plans for the new Linear Park were unveiled at an event hosted by Ballymore and Camlins, the landscape architects behind the project.
Set to open in 2014, the Linear Park will run from Vauxhall station through the heart of Embassy Gardens and the adjacent new US Embassy to Battersea Power Station. This kilometre-long beautiful green avenue will form the lively centrepiece of the new landmark Embassy Gardens development and the wider nine Elms regeneration area.
Winding its way through Embassy Gardens’ 2,000 homes, vibrant mix of bars and restaurants and 130,000 sq ft of retail, the Linear Park is modelled on New York’s High Line. Designed by Camlins, this will be a living, breathing park for everyone. Residents can literally step out of their front doors and into its garden squares, open green commons and majestic tree-lined streets. Those both living in and visiting the area can also enjoy an array of community and cultural initiatives.
Masterplanned by globally-renowned architect, Sir Terry Farrell Nine Elms offers an exceptional opportunity: it is probably the last time that a 200 hectare area of central London will be developed from a ‘totally blank canvas’.
