The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has launched a new Android-based fire risk assessment app.
Designed to help building managers conduct building inspections, the ASFP’s firesafetyfile aims to provide a suitable audit trail for use in support of a fire risk assessment.
It offers a range of checklists which guide the user through onsite inspections of passive fire protection, allowing them to add notes and images as necessary. Output can be exported in Excel or pdf format and configured to fit into existing report templates, saving users significant time in writing building inspection reports.
Suitable for use on Android-based tablets, firesafetyfile is currently available as a free BETA version from which the ASFP is keen to gather feedback.
The firesafetyfile app is just one of a new range of guidance tools from the ASFP. It is based on the Association’s popular Guide to Inspecting Passive Fire Protection for Fire Risk Assessors.
The guide is aimed at fire risk assessors and those directly involved in the specification, installation or maintenance of passive fire protection. It lays out clear, pragmatic guidance to enable the identification and inspection of all types of passive fire protection as part of a fire risk assessment, as required under UK legislation.
The guide is offered in a robust A5 spiral ring-bound hard copy format, for £20.00 plus £2.50 p&p. It is also available as a free PDF download from the ASFP website.
The ASFP has also launched a new video channel which features free to view online videos. Two modules, which offer an introduction to passive fire protection and fire risk assessment, are currently available from the website.
A further six modules are planned, each dedicated to a different type of passive fire protection product group, describing the key features a fire risk assessor should examine when undertaking a building inspection or fire risk assessment.
