Akusto aims for optimum sound absorption

The new Akusto range of wall panels and screens is the latest update to Saint-Gobain Ecophon’s comprehensive suite of acoustic solutions, designed to achieve exceptional acoustic comfort in every type of environment.

Akusto is the new name for both Ecophon’s range of wall mounted acoustic panels and its newly introduced sound-absorbing screens. Akusto panels and screens work hand in hand with Ecophon’s acoustic ceilings to help manage noise in challenging sound environments such as the modern open-plan office.

The Akusto Wall panels provide Class A sound absorption and are available in a range of four different surfaces; Texona, Akutex FT, Super G and Muralis as well as 16 different colours, 20 pattern options and a choice of two edge finishes.

Akusto Screen is a new sound-absorbing, free-standing room or desk divider and comes in the Texona surface and colours. Made from 70% recycled glass wool, Akusto Screen is also available in two sizes and if further acoustic privacy is required, can incorporate an additional 400mm glass pane.

Will Jones, Ecophon’s Marketing Manager, says: “Akusto provides total flexibility in how we manage the impact of sound in an indoor environment. We recommend its use in addition to a wall-to-wall acoustic ceiling system or, where that’s not possible, to complement free-hanging acoustic units.

“For example, in today’s open-plan offices, the challenge is often to control the distance that voices travel and manage the impact of disturbing background noise. The installation of an acoustic suspended ceiling, wall panels near desks and screens as dividers, minimises echo and limits the sound that carries around the room. Helping to better control the acoustics within the office environment in this way has been proven to reduce interruptions and staff stress levels.

“The wide range of contemporary colours, patterns, textures and profiles available also enables Akusto to blend in or complement any interior design.”
