A powered access depot in Nottingham has become the first in the UK to receive a prestigious international benchmark for Technical Excellence.
The TechX programme was first established in 2008 by Lavendon Group plc, the world’s largest specialist access rental business, to provide a robust means of measuring and recognising technical standards across its workshops, depots and other operational locations.
Based on the industry renowned “Five S” principles of workplace organisation which consider areas like systematic cleaning, sorting and standardisation, the TechX programme has subsequently been introduced to the business’ locations across Europe and the Middle East.
Earlier this year the Group launched three new Bronze, Silver and Gold TechX standards for its employees across all territories to aspire to new benchmarks in engineering and technical excellence. In addition to creating efficiencies within its depots, the programme also leads to direct improvements in equipment reliability for its customers, as well as having a positive affect on safety.
Having now successfully accomplished the new standard, Lavendon Group’s market leading business in the UK, Nationwide Platforms, is proud to announce its first TechX Gold accreditated depot.
Employing 11 full time employees and providing a home to more than 200 pieces of access equipment, the access leader’s Nottingham depot recently underwent an indepedent audit which confirmed it had met the highest standards outlined by the benchmark, having only set to work on the journey of achieving the accreditation in April.
Nationwide Platforms’ Location Service Manager in Nottingham, Ryan Booth, who comes from nearby Ilkeston, spoke after the accreditation was awarded, saying: “Since the Gold benchmark was first launched across the business it has always been our first aim to achieve Gold. The dedication of the team here has made that possible and now we’re very pleased to be the first here in the UK to hold the standard.”
Mike Potts, Managing Director of Nationwide Platforms, praised the work of the Nottingham team, saying: “This is a fantastic accomplishment and one which we are all very proud of at Nationwide Platforms. Achieving TechX Gold, our highest benchmark, is something which we know takes hard work and commitment. The results at Nottingham have been striking and we know the benefits will be clear for our employees and customers alike. A huge congratulations goes out to all of the team at Nottingham, and coming on the back of strong demand for our products across the UK, this has helped ceate a positive momentum throughout all of our business.”
The Lavendon Group aims for all of its depots to have attained the Silver accreditation by the end of 2013, and for all locations to have reached the Gold standard by the end of 2014.
