Peikko supplies to YIT Construction Services the foundation solution for a wind park which TuuliWatti Oy is building to Tervola in Northern Finland. YIT is responsible for the planning and construction of the foundations in the project. Peikko’s foundation solution is supplied to five of the ten wind turbine towers to be built in Tervola.

Supplying the foundation solution to Tervola is a significant project for Peikko, as the turbine manufacturer for the project is the world leading supplier Vestas. Tervola is also the first project where Vestas supplies a tower with 140 meter hub height. The typical tower height currently is around 100 meters. The Tervola turbines are 3 MW units and the rotors 112 meters. It is also the first proper inland wind park to be built in Finland, situated some 50 kilometers from the coast.

Peikko’s first deliveries to Tervola take place in May and June 2012. The foundations will be ready during autumn. The delivery scope of Peikko consists of foundation design, detailed quality and installation instructions as well as anchoring components.

“We are proud that YIT chose Peikko’s foundation solution for the Tervola wind park. The foundations of such high towers are under very demanding loads. Peikko’s solution enables the building of an efficient and lasting foundation. We are delighted that our strong investment in developing anchoring technology for onshore wind turbine tower foundations pays off.” says Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.
