Altripan, Europe’s leading independent importer for quality plywood and panel products, has announced that Lumin™ plywood from international forest products company, Weyerhaeuser, will continue to be one of the primary products in its sustainable range – forecasting Lumin will represent over 50% of its sales to the construction and packaging market from now until the end of year.

A Weyerhaeuser distributor partner since 2006, Altripan has established a reputation in the market for providing high quality and sustainable panel products – including the Lumin range. Competitive and PEFC certified; Lumin provides a commercially sound solution for a wide range of uses, with CE2+ certification making it ideal for structural applications such as roofing and flooring.

Gert van Hees, Altripan Director, comments: “Lumin has proven itself to be a truly sustainable alternative to tropical plywood which is reflected in its increasing popularity. For example, customers are starting to request Lumin in place of some of the more traditional alternatives, in recognition that we can guarantee Lumin comes from a fully certified source.”

As part of its continued commitment to proactively promote Lumin throughout Europe, Altripan has invested in events such as the ZOW in Bad Salzuflen, Germany and Carrefour du Bois in Nantes, France, where Lumin was showcased as a flagship product in the Altripan portfolio. Lumin attracted significant interest during the two exhibitions, helping Altripan to secure a record number of visitors to the stands as well as firm sales leads.

With Lumin being manufactured from eucalyptus and pine trees grown on managed plantations in Uruguay, Altripan undertook a training trip to South America earlier this year so that its technical team could learn more about the sustainable management of the plantations and state-of-the-art mill. This enabled the team to gain first-hand insight into the careful practices Weyerhaeuser has designed to ensure positive economic development and minimal environmental impact in Uruguay.

John Guerin, Weyerhaeuser European Managing Director, concludes: “Lumin is now becoming an established product in Europe and is underpinned by over 100 years’ experience Weyerhaeuser has in the timberlands business. We carefully align with partners who share our sustainable values and commitment to a long term relationship, the result of which is ongoing market penetration and continued growth and demand for the product.”

Lumin is supplied in a choice of eucalyptus or pine faced plywood and six different grades. For further information on Lumin or to identify your nearest stockist please visit www.lumin.com
