EQUITONE [natura]
fibre cement facade material has created a striking, tri-colour exterior for
the headquarters of the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The Newport base of
the UK Statistics Authority has been given a unique look by the EQUITONE facade, which provides a
low maintenance exterior that combines excellent aesthetics with
durability.
With the existing
exterior walls needing extensive repairs, the ONS worked alongside VINCI
Facilities to design a new rainscreen cladding system, specifying 6,800m2 of
EQUITONE [natura] in a combination of colours and panel sizes.
Dave Willett, senior
project manager at VINCI Facilities, said: “With existing walls needing
extensive repairs that would affect the overall aesthetic of the building, we
needed to find a solution that was visually striking, but also sympathetic to
the original brick colours.
“We felt that EQUITONE
provided the best combination of quality, versatility and value for money. The
adjustability of the mounting system accommodated the varying planes of the
original walls extremely well, resulting in a really crisp finish.”
Dave added: “EQUITONE
was very supportive at the design stage and maintained their support
throughout. There have been no issues with the product to date and it is
looking as sharp and rich in colour as the day it was installed.”
