Tensar International, a global leader in soil-reinforcement and ground stabilisation technology, is celebrating 20 years of working on some of the world’s most challenging and prestigious wind farm projects by sharing its expertise, and some refreshments, with visitors to the RenewableUK show.
The annual conference and exhibition for the renewable energy sector in the UK, which takes place on 5th-7th November at the NEC, Birmingham, will see delegates have the opportunity to enjoy an informative presentation from Tensar’s Wind Farm Manager (UK), Colin Thompson and UK Business Manager, Peter Wills.
The presentation will advise delegates on lowering costs while maintaining safety in wind farm access road construction, something which Tensar has extensive experience in, having worked on some of Europe’s largest wind farm projects such as Whitelee Wind Farm in Scotland and Fântânele-Cogealac Wind Farm in Romania. In both projects, Tensar’s unique triangular aperture TriAx® geogrid range was specified to create safe new access roads and working platforms capable of supporting continuous heavy trafficking.
As part of the presentation, which takes place 13:15 Tuesday 5th November at the Exhibitor Showcase (Stand 110), delegates will have the opportunity to learn how TriAx® gained European Technical Approval for the ‘stabilisation’ function whilst discovering how mechanically stabilised layers can be designed using TensarPave™ software. Visitors will also be introduced to the new large aperture TriAx® product.
Colin Thompson, Tensar International’s specialist commercial wind farm manager, says: “Tensar has a long and proud history of working to stabilise site access to wind farms, and as part of our 20th year of wind farms celebrations we’re keen to pass-on the knowledge and understanding we have gained in our commitment to the wind farm sector.
“The use of TriAx® geogrid reduces construction thicknesses by up to 50%, while reducing long term maintenance costs and carbon emissions from vehicles to site – so we’re sure delegates to RenewableUK 2013 are going to be keen to learn even more about the product and our wider offering to the renewables sector.”
Guests unable to attend the presentation will still be able to talk to Tensar and receive a one-to-one demo of TensarPave design software from one of the company’s experts, while enjoying a slice of Tensar’s special ‘rocky road’ cake washed down with a drink. The team will be present on stand 239 throughout the event.
2013 marks 20 years since Tensar began working on stabilisation solutions for on-shore wind farms. The Blackburn-based company has seen increasing demand for its products from the renewable energy sector in recent years, and in particular its unique TriAx® geogrid, which is specifically developed for stabilisation of both permanent and temporary access roads in remote areas and in particular over soft subgrades.
