Hanson’s range of dense aggregate blocks now contains Regen, reducing embodied CO2 by up to 30 per cent.
Regen is a ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS) – a by-product of the iron-making industry – and is used as a cement replacement.
Paul Lacey, Hanson UK’s head of sustainability, said: “Our aggregate blocks offer high compressive strength, excellent sound insulation and have a product life expectancy in excess of 150 years.
“In addition they provide high thermal mass, can be recycled after use and have BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing of Materials (RSM) certification. The addition of Regen adds to these sustainability credentials and will help builders meet current and future Building Regulations.”
