As the thermal performance of individual building elements is placed under ever-closer scrutiny, Fitzpatrick has introduced Insucel – a range of insulated steel doorsets specifically designed to meet increasing regulatory control.
Developed using a variety of core and frame infill materials and sealing products, the range has been independently verified by BM Trada as complying with both the current Building Regulations and the new EN14351 standard for windows and doors.
Bearing in mind that steel doorsets are typically installed within the building’s external envelope, it is clear that they have an essential role to play in preventing heat loss. Therefore, Fitzpatrick offers a total engineered metal doorset solution that provides an effective insulation barrier. As the components are factory-assembled, the complete doorsets are manufactured to the closest tolerances and are thoroughly checked to ensure that the required performance levels are successfully met.
This enables the doorsets to achieve extremely low U-Values of just 2.0 w/m2k for the Insucel RW, which may additionally be fire rated to 120 minutes, and 3.1 w/m2k for the Insucel HC, which may also be additionally fire rated up to 240 minutes.
Nigel Carr, Commercial Manager at Fitzpatrick comments: “The U-Values of all building components are being evaluated much more thoroughly since the recent tightening of Building Regulations surrounding heat loss. Insucel has been developed as a response to the increased demand for high performance thermal solutions and draws on Fitzpatrick’s extensive experience of creating innovative products that satisfy our customers’ complex requirements.”
The design, specification, manufacture and installation of metal doorsets is a complex and technical process, which is why Fitzpatrick is committed to offering assistance to specifiers and architects at every stage. Expert technical support and a full NBS-based specification facility is available, supported throughout by a team of specification managers, while the project management service provides a single point of contact at all stages.
