Andersen windows from Black Millwork have been used in an exclusive and highly energy efficient development in Suffolk.
Built by Brian Sabberton Ltd, the eight homes that form the Clearview development offer traditional style with superb modern performance.
Constructed using local vernacular facing bricks and clay roof tiles, Clearview offers traditional aesthetics whilst incorporating the latest technologies to ensure outstanding performance and minimal on going maintenance requirements. Internally, the eight homes benefit from underfloor heating with individual room thermostatic control and solar thermal hot water heating, providing luxurious and economical comfort.
Peter Sabberton, Managing Director at Brian Sabberton Ltd, commented: “As a family run business, trust and reputation is everything for us - every home we build therefore uses premium quality materials. We are known for building homes that combine traditional form with modern function and in this way, Black Millwork’s Andersen products fitted in perfectly with this ethos.
“At Clearview we set out to create highly efficient and economical homes and so it was obvious that fenestration would play a big role in helping us achieve that. The Andersen windows have impressive thermal efficiency ratings whilst also coming with extensive warranties, so the on going costs are kept to a minimum and long lasting performance is insured.”
Installed at the development were Anderson 400 Series casement windows and Woodwright windows. Like all Andersen windows, both of these products are manufactured using Low E-4 self-cleaning glass, which reduces water spots and requires minimal on going care. What’s more, each of these products feature a unique Perma-Shield® system that forms a tough protective shell to safeguard the inner wood. Able to repel water and resist dents and corrosion, this exclusive vinyl cladding keeps the windows in top condition and reduces further maintenance costs.
Available in a huge range of catalogues sizes, Andersen windows allow specifiers and architects great flexibility in the design process. In addition to this, the extensive warranties Black Millwork offers on the material, hardware and finish of the windows means that they will continue to perform both efficiently and aesthetically for many years to come.
Peter concluded: “Getting the balance between looks and performance can be tricky, particularly with fenestration. We have used Andersen products in the past and know that they perform well, but I was particularly pleased with how, on this development, the slim timber sections of the windows matched perfectly with the appearance of traditional sashes.
“The windows have been a success for everyone involved – the installers find them straightforward to fit and seal, whilst our customers have been impressed with the performance and range of accessories available, such as the custom made insect screens which secure directly to the frame without inhibiting the operation of the window.”
