Interserve, the international support services and construction group, is to deliver a new £7.5 million renal dialysis unit at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest in west Wales on behalf of Hywel Dda Health Board as part of the Designed For Life: Building for Wales framework.
The solution from Interserve is the result of a consultation process including local renal specialists and patient representatives and will offer a 21 station renal dialysis unit within the hospital grounds.
Addressing the renal function requirements in a flexible and future-proof way, the new unit will be located at the front of the site, next to the existing main entrance and recent new A&E facility. Works are expected to be complete by early 2014.
Interserve has also been asked to construct a new 250 space staff car park in advance of the new single storey renal dialysis unit, and to undertake alterations to the existing car park, whilst maintaining full operational services to the existing hospital facilities.
The new unit will deliver vital renal services for the patients of West Wales, enabling more patients to undergo treatment locally, thereby reducing the need for travel.
