Elton House is an award-winning luxury care home project, designed by PRP Architects and developed by Wates Construction for Signature Senior Lifestyle.
The development is situated in Bushey, Hertfordshire and offers accommodation within an outstanding retirement community.
Elton House care home offers both residential and nursing care, comprising of 95 luxury private apartments varying from studio apartments to one-bedroom deluxe suites, as well as private suites for patients with dementia.
The care home is a non-institutional setting, designed to create a comfortable living environment for those in their retirement years, as well as offering specialist care facilities for those living with memory loss. The development also features a wide range of facilities including a cinema, spa, restaurant, café, hairdressing salon and therapy room alongside social areas and communal lounges.
The Elton House project creates an inclusive and friendly environment whilst providing an active and enabling community for its residents, allowing for generous personal space.
The central and highly constricted urban area in which the site is located proved to be challenging for the architects. In order to provide outdoor space with limited grounds, the architect designed all usable garden space to be situated at roof level above under-croft parking. The communal roof garden, sheltered by the wings of the two surrounding buildings, is an intensive green roof, which includes tree planting, patios and decking.
The garden comprises a series of circular footpaths that are flanked by raised beds and wildflower mounds and is home to multi-stem fruit and nut trees, intricately designed to create dappled shade and an intimate feel. It also features strong bands of various evergreens and ornamental grasses to maintain structural interest throughout the year.
Taylor Maxwell supplied the Elton House project with facing bricks from our exclusive Select Range. The Carsington Cream brick was carefully selected by the architects in order to create a contemporary, luxurious feel whilst also complementing the neighbouring vernacular.
More neutral brick colours can be partnered with bolder colours and designs; the Carsington Cream brick was the perfect choice for this project as it provides a clean backdrop to the garden landscaping. The decision to use a creamy buff brick was also made as it brings a subtle warmth and a sense of calm to the development. The Elton House care home provides its residents with a sense of tranquility amongst an otherwise busy, urban environment.
Taylor Maxwell’s Select Range comprises of 18 facing bricks that are produced by industry leading brick manufacturers, exclusively for Taylor Maxwell. The range includes both wirecut and stock brick options, across a variety of different colours and blends, all incredibly competitively priced. Ideal for both social and private housing developments, the Select Range seamlessly interfaces with Taylor Maxwell’s wider range of external facade products.
