Internorm’s KF200 double-glazed window system has been utilised at a new residential development in West London - Hanwell Locks.
The high thermal performance windows will go some way in helping homeowners save as much as £1,200 per year on their energy bills.
Hanwell Locks is the joint creation of Frendcastle Developments Ltd and Bellway Homes. Andrew Towns Wadey (ATW) on behalf of Frendcastle initially began work on the site back in 2010 and was the original specifier of Internorm’s A-rated KF200 window system.
Gary Matterface of ATW said, “Windows are an important element, which when specified correctly, can significantly help to reduce energy consumption. In times where fuel prices are constantly increasing, specification with this in mind was key. Internorm has provided the ideal solution to help us to achieve this by ensuring that the building is as airtight as feasibly possible.”
A spokesman for Bellway Homes said, “We are committed to ensuring our homeowners will be living in fuel efficient homes. Therefore, in-line with Government targets, we are working towards improving the energy efficiency of all our properties for the long-term. The development is now complete and we are very happy with the results of Internorm’s KF200 system.”
Overall, Internorm’s KF200 was installed throughout 45 apartments and 14 town houses, which are nestled in the vicinity of the spectacular Hanwell Flight of six locks of the Grand Union Canal, amongst the leafy Ealing suburbs. With a contemporary squared edge design, the KF200 puristic windows enhance the exterior of the modern homes.
The product’s excellent thermal insulation and optimum energy efficiency, with a 30-year life expectancy, made it the perfect choice in meeting the project’s thermal requirements, giving it the best thermal insulation of Uw up to 0.81W/m²K. The windows also boast FIX-O-ROUND technology, which is a continuous all around fixing of the glass pane to ensure better stability for higher life span, in addition to burglary protection and functioning security.
In addition to the reduction of energy consumption, this specification also required exceptional acoustic abilities, as Hanwell is located under the Heathrow Airport flight path. The KF200 system provides just this, with a sound insulation of up to 42dB, encasing an 8mm sound reducing layer of glass, ensuring the inescapable noise levels that homeowners are subject to is kept to a minimum.
James Munro at Frames Direct said: “Airtightness was a key factor when it came to specifying the windows for Hanwell Locks. Internorm windows have been instrumental in achieving this – with the KF200 system providing a thermally efficient solution that boasted clean lines and a modern finish, which is also easy to maintain.”
