Triton’s Safeguard+ thermostatic electric shower combines safety, simplicity and design to enable specifiers meet the growing demand for inclusive bathrooms.
Building on the specification credentials achieved by the original Safeguard, Triton worked closely with The OT Service to ensure the latest offering meets a wide range of end-user needs.
Safety
The Safeguard+ thermostatic offers full assurance when it comes to quality and safety, providing CE Mark, Kitemark and BEAB Care certification. Incorporating Triton’s tried and tested Tri-Therm™ technology the shower delivers a constantly regulated water temperature within +/-1°C and shuts off automatically if the cold water supply fails.
To further ensure comfortable showering, during installation the maximum temperature can be set to either 41°C (BEAB Care setting), 43°C or 47°C depending on the unit’s location. A timer can also be set during installation so the water flow automatically stops after 5, 10, 20 (default) or 30 minutes, which is ideal for adaptations and busy care homes.
Design
Thanks to its intuitive features, the Safeguard+ has achieved RNIB endorsement. The large looped temperature lever together with easy to read markings and raised graduations ensures the desired setting can be easily selected. In addition, a cool grey, soft press start/stop button illuminates to aid the user, while audible feedback can be activated to further confirm the required operations. The aesthetics also create suitable levels of visual contrast, making it safe and suitable for users with varying degrees of sight difficulties.
Flexibility
The standard Safeguard+ has a polished stainless steel riser rail with an extra long hose to ensure a comfortable experience whether standing or seated. An alternative Safeguard+ grab riser rail package is also available which provides a load bearing riser rail capable of supporting up to 150kg if intentionally or accidently grabbed, as well as a supplementary low level shower head holder. This option not only reduces the need to specify and purchase separate shower and grab rails, but also helps to reduce the number of ‘slip and trip’ incidents.
An optional low voltage hard wired remote start/stop button can be positioned up to five metres away. Its illuminated on/off button simplifies operation for those requiring lower level access and offers remote control for carers to make the showering process easier for both.
Simplicity
In keeping with Triton’s ethos for easy to install solutions, the Safeguard+ provides generous clearance for connections and a large footprint, which helps to conceal any existing fixing holes or exposed plaster from a previous installation. Plus, Triton’s versatile Swivel-Fit™ water connection and large top/bottom entry trims, which are removable without tools, have been purposely designed to accommodate standard pipework and cable trunking to ensure a neat finish.
Safeguard+ is also compatible with analogue and digital waste pumps. When a pump is connected the drainage is regulated to the water flow rate reducing the risk of slipping or leaks due to water build up in a cubicle or level access floor arrangement.
Steve Saunders, senior technical manager at Triton Showers comments: “The Safeguard+ has been developed to give specifiers an option which can be confidently selected for a variety of different environments. Its recognised safety accreditations and ease of installation result in a product which can be chosen for a new or retrofit bathroom scheme, saving time and money.”
Gordon Heath from The OT Service comments: “Triton’s Safeguard+ unit is well researched and manufactured in order to meet the needs of a wide variety of clients and is a must for any person or organisation wanting to future-proof their property(ies).”
Triton’s Safeguard+ thermostatic electric shower is priced from around £245 (manufacturer’s list price) and the grab riser rail and remote stop/start control options are available separately.
As with every other Triton product, Safeguard+ is rigorously tested before leaving the factory to ensure it complies with the high standards required and is supported by a minimum of a full two year parts and labour guarantee as well as complete after care support. Triton also offers an optional testing service in line with the BEAB Care standard to ensure ongoing temperature performance is upheld.
