Balfour Beatty has ‘topped out’ the £6.7 million student accommodation development at One Penrhyn Road, Kingston upon Thames for London Student No.2 Limited Partnership.
The design and build contract for the mixed use scheme that will provide 115 student accommodation studio units and 163m² of educational space is due for completion this summer.
The development will meet BREEAM ‘excellence’ rating, the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings. One Penrhyn Road will have exemplary insulation values with low energy lighting, heat recovery ventilation units providing fresh air and improved climate control and a combined heat and power unit producing hot water and power.
Raj Kotecha, Managing Director of Amro Real Estate Partners who manage the development, said: “We are delighted that Balfour Beatty has achieved completion of the building’s main structure and the project is on schedule for completion in time for the autumn term.”
Neil Patterson, Balfour Beatty Regional Managing Director, London and South East, said: “We are pleased to have reached this significant milestone in the construction of One Penrhyn Road. We are looking forward to continuing the collaborative journey with the client and design team to deliver another outstanding student accommodation project.”
