In order to meet the environmental requirements for Center Parcs’ new Woburn Forest Village, Advanced Roofing approached Knauf Insulation for technical support, thanks to the manufacturer’s expertise with inverted roofs and its reputable inverted roof system.
As such, in partnership with SIG plc, 7500m2 of Knauf Insulation’s Polyfoam ECO Roofboard Extra in 205mm and 220mm and Slimline Membrane - was supplied to Advanced Roofing.
“From the early tender stages of this project right through to project completion, we worked closely with Knauf Insulation’s regional sales team and Specification Manager, Marc Lawson,” commented David Hartshorn from Advanced Roofing. “We turned to Knauf Insulation as we have worked with the company before on many other projects and knew that its wide range of insulation products would help us meet the project’s environmental requirements and the demands of an inverted roof application.
“The new 362-acre Center Parcs Village in Bedfordshire consists of modern Lodges and leisure facilities including a Subtropical Swimming Paradise, a spa and a variety of restaurants, as well as a corporate events venue – all of which have had Knauf Insulation’s Polyfoam ECO Roofboard products installed to the roofs. With Center Parcs wanting to build a new Village that had excellent environmental credentials and thermal performance, we worked closely with Knauf Insulation’s Technical Support Team (TST) who provided us with thermal calculations.”
Knauf Insulation’s Polyfoam ECO extruded polystyrene insulation has a thermal conductivity value of just 0.033 W/mK across the whole range.
Further more, Polyfoam ECO insulation has been extensively tested by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and is now the only range of extruded polystyrene (XPS) products certified to achieve a Green Guide Rating of ‘A’ - `A`+ allowing installers and end users to have the utmost confidence that the products provide a proven sustainable solution.
David continued: “This insulation product has an excellent compressive strength of 300 kPa, it is also very easy to handle and install which makes it perfect for use on all decks and roof build-ups – saving us money and time on site.”
