Oslo’s first waterfront hotel, The Thief is set to steal you away from everyday life come January.
Located between the iconic Astrup Fearnley Museum, the Oslofjord and the canals of Tjuvholmen Island, the gradient façade of the hotel will introduce guests to the city’s new cultural centre with fantastic views of the fjord and exciting new architecture.
The site of thieves, prostitutes and shady activities in the 18th century, Tjuvholmen today is home to one of Scandinavia’s most exciting urban renewal projects. The finest contemporary art, architecture and gastronomy are taking over the island.
Within the walls of the hotel, The Thief will reflect the avant-garde spirit of its surroundings. The best of contemporary art will sit alongside upcoming local pieces, handpicked by a world-class curator, and furniture by design greats mixed with those of upcoming Norwegian designers. Video art-on-demand will be another exclusive highlight at this new Design Hotels™ member property.
Based on a pervasive practice of sustainability, The Thief will not only employ clever solutions to reduce energy and water consumption, and for waste handling, but also serve up local and organic ingredients at its sophisticated restaurant Fru K, offering a contemporary take on classic Norwegian cuisine.
From readying the hotel’s boat for guests to explore the Oslofjord, enabling smart phones to be used as room keys, marking out the best jogging route to offering custom-made caviar, The Thief will whisk you away into a world of new impressions.
