A new exhibition in London is set to focus the attention of architects and developers on the tremendous design possibilities offered by StoVentec glass.
The exhibition will run from June 16 – September 29 2017, and will showcase the work of the Space Popular architecture and research practice. It will feature a unique installation designed using StoVentec glass, provided by Sto Ltd.
Sto Werkstatt – the London showroom for the Sto Group - briefed Space Popular to work with StoVentec Glass and emphasize the outstanding design possibilities offered by this material.
Working with the extensive range of colour and size possibilities which are available, Space Popular created The Glass Chain - a display which explores an alternative future for glass in architecture.
The Glass Chain from which the exhibition takes its name refers to the infamous exchange of letters by a group of German architects from 1919-1920. These explored the nature of glass and the potential it offered for creating fluid, organic and colourful buildings.
Although glass largely went on to become a functional element of buildings, this new display shows how it is now rapidly becoming the material of choice for architects and designers looking to create outstanding building designs. It explores the different scales and perceptions of glass, and the ways in which it can be used in modern buildings.
”Space Popular is one of the most exciting young practices working in the UK today and we’re hugely excited to have commissioned their first built UK project,” explains Amy Croft, Curator at Sto Werkstatt.
“It’s been a captivating process for the Sto technical team to work closely with the designers to push the use of StoVentec glass to its limits.”
StoVentec Glass can be used both on external building facades, and as an internal design feature. It is available in any RAL or custom colour, and can be screen or digitally printed with patterns, illustrations, photographs or corporate logos.
It is manufactured in bespoke panel sizes and shapes to suit individual design requirements, and a gloss, reflective or non-reflective finish can also be selected.
Entry to The Glass Chain is free at Sto Werkstatt, 7-9 Woodbridge Street, Clerkenwell, London, EC1R 0EX.
