CIC has inaugurated Ian Brant as Chair at its Council Meeting.
Ian succeeds Dr Wei Yang OBE in this role for a two-year term of office starting with immediate effect. Wei now remains on the CIC Board as Deputy Chair for a year, in accordance with CIC’s rules and byelaws.
Ian is a Director at Brant Associates, specialising in commercial and contractual support, dispute resolution, and expert witness services. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB), he regularly acts as a Quantum Expert in legal proceedings and contributes to live projects as a Professional Quantity Surveyor. Ian has played a key leadership role in the construction industry, previously serving as a Trustee and Chair of the Investigations Panel at the CIOB and in his role with CIC.
On taking up this role, Ian Brant said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be elected Chair of the Construction Industry Council for the 2025–2027 term. As a Fellow of the CIOB, my career has been grounded in collaboration, professionalism and integrity across the built environment. The CIC brings together the collective voice of our diverse members at a time when our industry faces both great challenges and opportunity. I’m committed to driving progress through shared values, innovation and inclusion. I’m also passionate about improving mental health across the built environment sector — an issue that underpins the wellbeing, productivity and resilience of our workforce.
“I would like to thank Dr Wei Yang for her exceptional leadership and invite all CIC stakeholders to actively engage as we work together to shape a more sustainable and inspiring built environment for the generations to come.”
CIC’s outgoing Chair Dr Wei Yang said “As my two-year tenure as Chair of the Construction Industry Council comes to a close today, I feel deeply honoured to have led the CIC during such a pivotal period for the UK built environment. These past two years have been defined by collaboration, reform, and strategic action — all aimed at helping our industry respond to pressing societal and environmental challenges.
“I want to extend my deepest thanks to CEO Graham Watts, incoming Chair Ian Brant, the CIC board, CIC staff, member organisations, and our wider network for their unwavering support and shared vision throughout my tenure. I also wish Ian every success as Chair of CIC over the coming two years. I am confident that his vision, dedication, and leadership will continue to champion the CIC’s spirit of collaboration.”
CIC would like to thank Dr Wei Yang for her hard work and dedication during her time as Chair of CIC and welcome Ian into his new position.
