Architects can put ‘golden thread’ thinking at the core of fire resistant glazing designs by specifying Promat SYSTEMGLAS®, a range of high quality glazing systems which is tested as a complete system to offer clear traceability and assured performance.
The SYSTEMGLAS® range offers four framing options for glass screens, partitions, windows and other glazing elements, complemented by systems for doors and a walk-on glass floor, available with integrity and insulation fire ratings from EI30 to EI120, subject to the design and specification.
Framing is available in timber – SYSTEMGLAS® Ligna – and in a steel version called SYSTEMGLAS® Ferro, as well as materials that can be over-clad, painted or concealed. These options, called SYSTEMGLAS® Advenerat and SYSTEMGLAS® Celare respectively, both utilise Promat PROMATECT-H in their framing, a durable calcium silicate based material that provides a high level of fire resistance.
With all options, the glass can be butt-jointed to maximise light transmission and vision.
Integration with fire resistant doors
Glazing elements created using SYSTEMGLAS® are also available with integrated doors offering fire resistance of up to 60 minutes.
Promat offers three PYROSEC steel framed fire rated doors, including the super-slim PYROSEC SLIMLITE version with minimal framing, and the newly launched PYROSEC E Door which is ideal for designs specifying an integrity-only door.
Promat can also integrate timber fire rated doorsets into its SYSTEMGLAS® Ligna glazing as demonstrated in a recent project to refurbish the Victorian Market in Inverness. Here, twin fire rated doorsets were combined with glass screens above to match the curve of the arch of one of the entrances to the historic market hall.
Proven fire performance
Promat SYSTEMGLAS® has been providing a fire resistant glazing solution for three decades in a wide range of projects ranging from modern office buildings to high-end residential property conversions.
Through Promat UK’s 360-degree ‘Wheel of Assurance’ the company is able to provide full traceability from raw materials sourcing, through processing to manufacturing, and SYSTEMGLAS® is installed by approved installers. As a result, Promat can provide a certificate of conformity on completion of the installation to provide additional peace of mind to the building’s owner or responsible person.
