The flagship architecture and design centre for Cosentino UK, Cosentino City London is excited to be hosting a plethora of must-attend events, workshops and talks throughout Clerkenwell Design Week (24-26 May 2022). Situated at 28-32 Old Street, Cosentino City London boasts a location in the heart of the architectural and design community – and the festival.

With sustainability as its core theme, the main initiative which will be present throughout the 3-day event will be Cosentino’s ‘Dekton Drop Boxes’. Together with Clerkenwell Design Week, Cosentino has created letter box style bins which will be clad in its revolutionary, carbon neutral surface Dekton Trilium, and placed in and around Clerkenwell. Cosentino is encouraging all visitors to post their used maps so they can be re-purposed for a creative initiative. Each box will include a description of the project, and simply requires visitors to pop their map in to be re-purposed, along with their business card for an automatic entry into a luxury prize draw where the winner will win a meal for two worth £200 at Maison Bab.* The concept is being led by sustainability, and highlights the carbon neutrality of Dekton, while ensuring the used maps are utilised rather than being discarded after the festival. The drop boxes will be located on the maps themselves, at the following drop-points; Projects, Design Fields, Detail, Change and Farringdon Station.

After Clerkenwell Design Week, Cosentino will be collaborating with sustainable artist Emmely Elgersma(@emmely) to upcycle the material collected into a paper mâché sculpture. An event will then be hosted in its City Showroom throughout the summer to exhibit what has been created – before moving on to a display at the Museum of London.

Cosentino London Showroom Manager, Olivia Ashley says, “We are really proud to be sponsoring this year’s festival, and our Dekton Drop Boxes illustrate what Cosentino is all about – not just during this festival – but in everything it does and looking way into the future. Cosentino focuses on water and energy management, using recycled materials and offering products which carry zero carbon footprint for architects and designers to specify to clients and have complete peace of mind. We will be celebrating all things sustainable design with our exciting agenda of events!”

Carbon neutral Dekton is renowned for its adaptability and application possibilities, especially for large-scale buildings. In order to showcase how it is applied for building Façades, demonstrations will be running alongside German-based, KIEL at the showroom using the latest Dekton Slim 4mm surface. Each day at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm, Keil will be giving a deeper view into what undercut technology is all about in ventilated facades, demonstrating their drilling technique using the undercut anchor.

To further demonstrate the adaptability of Dekton by Cosentino, whilst also providing a unique way to experience Clerkenwell Design Week, Cosentino has teamed up with PEDIBUS to clad a 12-seater bar bike with Dekton for a fun way to network and explore. The bike will be available each day from 12pm-3.45pm for groups of architects and design professionals.

The event will see cocktails served by The Bar Guys and catering by Chef Elliot Johnson Paul following a Spanish themed canapé menu, providing an ideal environment for networking at the close of the festival.
