ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, has released a new white paper discussing the future of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and how this is set to revolutionise construction projects.
Entitled ‘BIM: The Future of Smart, Sustainable Buildings,’ the guide is available for download here.
According to the most recent National BIM Report, 54% of the UK construction industry has adopted BIM, a figure set to rise to 97% within five years.
Effective information sharing is one of the biggest challenges facing the global construction industry, and BIM is becoming an increasingly vital solution. An accurate and collaborative methodology, BIM uses digital tools to enable cooperation and information sharing across design, construction and facilities management processes.
The white paper shows how a BIM-enabled approach helps facilitate sustainable design, reduce costs and boost productivity for all stakeholders. It also demonstrates how this approach helps organisations more effectively manage information throughout project lifecycles, helping to ensure optimised performance, comfort and reliability, and positively impact on building safe, secure and sustainable solutions.
To meet this demand, ASSA ABLOY has introduced ASSA ABLOY Openings StudioTM and BIM Door Solutions. These innovative, BIM-enabled product specification tools help users create tailored door opening solutions, offer a wide range of high-quality BIM-ready openings packages, and are supported throughout by ASSA ABLOY’s expertise.
Tim Checketts, Specification Director, says: “There is rising demand for manufacturers to provide BIM objects, as this allows for a more collaborative approach to projects.
"This white paper considers why BIM is so much more than just advanced 3D modelling – it enriches data on every design element, leading to better-informed design decisions.
“According to McKinsey research, 75% of those who adopted BIM reported a positive return on investment, shorter project lifecycles and greater cost savings.
"However, to appreciate its full effects, it’s crucial for all stakeholders across the supply chain to be BIM-enabled. We hope this guide will help towards that goal, and help in the delivery of high-performing, secure and environmentally-friendly buildings.”
