Originally designed as traditional build, Essex County Council, recognising the benefits of off-site construction commissioned Elite Systems GB to provide two fully factory manufactured modular buildings, a welfare facility and weighbridge office, to the technologically advanced Great Dunmow Waste Transfer Station.
For the two storey welfare facility Elite, following a detailed review of the original plans, adapted their timber frame Premier Multi-Storey system with the addition of custom fabricated steel work to support the projecting edge details, designed to mirror the architecture of the main building.
Factory manufactured in two modules to the highest standards of quality and performance, the welfare facility was designed, manufactured, delivered to site and installed by Elite in just two weeks, providing significant improvements to the 12-week programme offered by traditional build.
All internal finishes along with electrics and plumbing, fully prepared for fast connection on site, were undertaken in the controlled environment of the factory ensuring the highest standards of build. In addition to significantly improving the programme, the efficiency of off-site build provided significant cost savings, reduced site waste and with fewer site trades required, health and safety risks were significantly minimised on-site.
Finished in profiled steel and render and benefitting from a sedum roof to enhance biodiversity and reduce rainwater run-off, the two storey welfare facility along with the factory manufactured single storey weighbridge office, provided the client with a faster and more economical building solution than traditional build, without compromise to the initial design concept.
