Solarlux will be presented with one of the world's most renowned architecture prizes, the ICONIC AWARD, in Munich as part of the Expo Real trade fair on October 5.
Solarlux’s innovative sliding window design, cero, has been the worthy recipient of the Best of the Best award in the "Façade" product category.
This is the second prestigious award within the space of 12 months’ for the Solarlux team. As well as the ICONIC AWARD Best of the Best, the German manufacturer, also known for its Bi-folding glass doors and Wintergardens, accepted the iF Gold Award back in the spring. This double triumph proves that the cero unique sliding window has caught the attention of both the design world and the architecture world.
Winners of the ICONIC AWARDS are selected by an independent, expert jury made up of representatives from the fields of architecture, interior design as well as design and brand communication. Every year, prizes are awarded for visionary architecture, innovative products and sustainable communication from all sectors of the construction, real estate industries and manufacturing industries. The ICONIC AWARD focusses on outstanding, exemplary design and its integration into the urban, cultural and economic context.
Solarlux itself refers to cero as the "inside outside", as it highlights the philosophy that has been inspiring Solarlux in the creation of its own glazing solutions for over 30 years.
Managing Director, Stefan Holtgreife, said: "Our windows and façades connect indoors with outdoors, and allow these to merge together as one – cero was born from this very idea, and takes it to a whole new level".
As the ICONIC AWARDS are particularly well-known for taking a holistic approach to the design process and the integration into a particular environment, Stefan added: "We are extremely pleased to have struck a chord both with all the designers and also in the relevant fields".
Best of the Best recognition is a fitting extension of the cero philosophy, as the window combines high levels of functionality with exceptional aesthetics, boasting expansive glass panels and extremely slender frames. This particular closed window could not feel any more open. Even the edges are kept in the all-glass look, while the threshold-free transitions complement the elegant design, which almost melts away as a result of its own transparency.
The most impressive aspects of the cero sliding window are its features; allowing for large-scale window façades of up to 15 square metres which still appear light and elegant as they can be opened and closed easily and quietly, either manually or with a motor. The transparency can even be seen in the manufacturing, conforming to international environmental management standard ISO 14001, which stipulates continual reduction in environmental impact during production. The requirements of different climate zones have also been taken into account in its design, with the sliding window available as an uninsulated version, and with double or triple glazing.
The ICONIC AWARDS will be presented at the official ceremony as part of the Expo Real trade fair – Europe’s largest specialist trade fair for real estate and investments – in Munich this October.
