National property maintenance specialist Novus Property Solutions is continuing to support the communities within which it works, having employed a former homeless man as a trainee roofer to help him gain experience and skills for later in life.
Novus has employed Jacob Fielding, 19, as part of Bromford’s the Bromford Deal – an approach which sees the social housing provider offer opportunities to its customers to ‘give something back’ through work, training or volunteering. In return for this, customers are provided with a home and a range of services.
Jacob is working with Novus in Lichfield, Staffordshire, after he was recommended to the leading Stoke-based building and maintenance firm by Bromford as part of its scheme. Novus is Bromford’s roofing contractor, with the firm’s operatives working across about 27,000 homes managed by the group in the Midlands area.
Jacob, who beat nine applicants to win the post, has overcome many barriers throughout his life, having left home following the break-up of his parents.
Jacob said: “I am so grateful for the opportunity that Novus has given me and thankful to Bromford for putting me forward for it. Working for a reputable company such as Novus means doors will certainly open up for me in the future. This opportunity has given me the boost I needed.”
Carl Allcock, operations manager at Novus, said: “Jacob is working with professionalism, skill and dedication and fits into the team at Novus perfectly. Despite only being 19, he has impressed us with his attitude and ability to work well, which is highly important when working with us. As a leader in the maintenance and refurbishment industry, we are delighted to be able to give something back to our clients and to our client’s customers in this way.”
Marc Goldby, investment manager at Bromford, said: “This is a great example of cross team working and partnership with our contractors.”
The appointment of Jacob continues Novus’ dedication and commitment to working in partnership with its clients to open up opportunities which improve the lives of others.
