In early Spring of 2015, Newhey Carpets, a specialist designer and leading British manufacturer of innovative, high performance and sustainable commercial carpet supplied over 300 square metres of luxurious Colortec+ carpet for the newly refurbished Mercure Bristol The Grange Hotel.
The 4 star hotel is located in the peaceful North Bristol countryside, surrounded by 18 acres of landscaped gardens and has recently been awarded an AA rosette for fine dining excellence.
House & Hotel Interiors enlisted Newhey’s services to provide 2 designs for the public areas and function room. To deal with the high footfall a heavy contract carpet was specified for these areas & the online re-colouring tool ‘Colortec Express’ was used to create the bespoke branch carpet for the Park Suite function room.
The overall design scheme for Bristol The Grange Hotel was one of an English country house, timeless and liveable, grand yet friendly, with the odd eccentric touch. There is a plethora of pictures, objects, bespoke artwork, which all add to a unique and quirky look and feel as if you were visiting a family relative. However there are also a number of contemporary elements, the soft muted grey walls, the striking copper and black lights, the bespoke copper leaf chandelier hanging gracefully over the reception pod and the over-sized bespoke abstract artwork. Fabrics are muted and soft in relaxed patterns reminiscent of faded and antique linens.
Helen Hooper from House & Hotel Interiors commented: “The carpet was the focal point of our designs, we were inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the hotel and in particular the magnificent ancient cedar tree. With the help of Newhey Carpets we translated a photograph of the tree into a carpet design. The carpet creates movement in each room and depicts the texture of bark and wood in lovely autumnal colours and shades.”
Emma Kewley of House & Hotel Interiors notes that “working with suppliers like Newhey who can easily create custom designs enabled us to achieve a boutique feel to the hotel design, but all the time keeping within budget.”
